Gone Pishing Birdathon team is back for another Travis Audubon Birdathon! We wouldn’t miss it! Shelia Hargis and team will be on the Texas coast over the weekend of April 19. We will be competing in at least two categories: the most species seen within 24 hours and the most money raised. For the first category, we’ll be trying to beat our record of 142 species, so we’ll have to be very strategic and focused for many hours. Our plan will include visits to locations to get as many of the resident birds as possible, and if the birding gods smile on us with good migration weather, we’ll pick up migrating birds too. Cross your fingers for us! For the second category, the most money raised, we’ll also be trying to beat our record of over $12,000 raised for Travis Audubon. Wow, that’s a lot of money! We’re each donating at least $200 and asking friends, family members and anyone else we can think of to support our efforts to raise money for Travis Audubon, the best bird education and conservation organization in the state.
