Powderhorn Ranch – Saturday, April 26, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Join a small group of birders at one of TPWD’s newest acquisitions, Powderhorn Ranch Wildlife Management Area and State Park, with Daniel Walker of TPWD. We will be birding a variety of habitats including lake, bay and coastal oaks. Migration will be in full swing, so we should see a migrant or two! Learn more here.

Los Madrones – Saturday, April 26, 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Hill Country birding does not get any better than this. Join a small group of birders and spend a morning exploring this 400-acre ranch close to Austin. Limestone outcroppings, Little Bee Creek, grasslands, broad vistas and many beautiful Madrone trees will be the backdrop for birds like nesting Golden-cheeked Warblers, Summer Tanagers and Rufous-crowned Sparrows. Who knows what surprises await us during peak migration.

Allandale Owls at NW Park – Saturday, May 3, 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM

The early birds will get the worm! Join Janet Davis, Jeff Osborne, Suzanne Kho, and other neighbors for a fun and casual exploration of the birdlife in Allandale. We’ll focus mainly on Sheffield Park and Shoal Creek nearby, looking for migrants and enjoying the morning. We’ll be on the lookout for migrants like Black-throated Green Warbler and Nashville Warbler, as well as our favorite ubiquitous Herons and Phoebes. Learn more here.

Join Dennis Palafox for a trip to Camp Mabry, the headquarters for the Texas Military Forces in west-central Austin. It is representative of the urban-wildland interface of west Austin with a mix of maintained areas, oak-juniper woods, and a wet-weather creek connecting two ponds. Learn more here.

Birdathon Payment Policy
Payment for Birdathon events is due at registration. If you change your mind about attending an event, you may be able to transfer your registration to another Birdathon 2025 event. Event registration payments are considered donations and are non-refundable. We sincerely appreciate your generous support! Events occur rain or shine. Please contact the Travis Audubon office with your questions.
